We’re producing reusable hemp cloth masks for the personal protection of the general public and support of our staff members. We love hemp and its versatility, below are just a few reasons why.

Hemp is eco-friendly and sustainable

Hemp requires very little water to grow, combats erosion and regenerates the soil it grows in. Industrial hemp is a carbon sink, meaning it absorbs more CO₂ per hectare than any other commercial crop. The CO2 is permanently bonded within the hemp fibres regardless of what it is manufactured into. Hemp grows quickly, requires half the farmland of cotton and can renew up to three times a year.

Hemp is better for your health

Because hemp is naturally pest-resistant, it does not require any toxic chemicals like pesticides or fertilizers to grow which, in turn, means there are none of these harmful chemicals in the fibres used to make our cloth masks.

Hemp is hypoallergenic and anti-bacterial

Being completely natural and free of chemicals, hemp fabric is hypoallergenic so it won’t cause allergies or irritate your skin. Hemp is also regarded to have antibacterial properties against a wide range of pathogenic bacteria.

Hemp is strong

Hemp is an extremely strong natural fibre. Similar to linen in texture, hemp is far stronger than cotton yet lightweight. Hemps holds its shape and gets softer over time.

Our masks have two protective hemp layers and each mask comes with 5 removable Brits D15 Filter elements (the filter is inserted into a pouch in the middle, adding a third protective layer). We use a hemp blend (55% hemp and 45% organic cotton at 190gsm) to ensure you get all the benefits of hemp while still keeping the masks comfortable to wear.

Masks can be purchased via our sister company, Ubuntu Baba.  Learn more about our reusable hemp cloth masks here
